Maximizing Profit And Time Efficiency Through Web Automation

Case Scenario:
A restaurant owner in Boston desired to expand his restaurant and catering businesses (delivery) by creating a website to increase the awareness in the community about his restaurant’s existence.
However, we found out that the catering business operation’s process was inefficient and we felt that this process could hamper his business expansion plans.

Every day, the owner received the catering orders through phone and he would type-in their particulars and credit card numbers into excel spreadsheets manually. The next day, he would prepare those orders and sent them to the customers. He would also need to send the confirmation and invoice manually to his customers.

High amount of productivity time are mostly consumed during the data entry stage which caused deficiency in his restaurant business operations.

Problems:
  • The restaurant needed a website to increase the awareness
  • Inefficient catering business process:
    • Receive many phone calls
    • Type-in the customers’ particulars and orders manually
    • Charged the credit card payments manually
    • Send confirmation and invoice manually
    • Compiled all the orders at the end of the day manually for monthly sales report
    • Valuable time is wasted due to a lot of paper-works
  • High Possibility of human mistakes (e.g.) entered credit card numbers; customers’ particulars and others wrongly

Our Solutions:
  • We designed a professional website that is suitable to the owner’s requests
  • We designed an online ordering system that is integrated to his website. Customers then can order their own particulars and put the orders in this system through the restaurant’s website. Every time an order is received, automatically the orders will be stored into the database and the owner can printed out the orders from the database at the beginning of the day
  • Confirmation and invoice are being sent automatically to clients’ email
  • We created an online payment (credit card) in the restaurant website
  • We also created the ability to develop monthly sales report, top favorite food, etc
